How we protect the heritage you share with Saknes.

You own your data

Every property, ancestor record, photograph, and heritage item you contribute to Saknes remains yours. You can export or delete everything at any time from your account settings. We will never claim ownership of your contributions.

Secure, EU-hosted infrastructure

All data is stored on Supabase (EU region), with encrypted connections and row-level security. Your personal information is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising. We collect only the minimum data needed to operate the platform.

Long-term preservation

Saknes is built for archival longevity. We maintain regular backups and design our systems with long-term data integrity in mind. In the unlikely event that Saknes cannot continue operating, we commit to giving all contributors advance notice and the tools to export their complete data before any shutdown.

Content moderation

All properties are reviewed before appearing publicly on the map. Heritage items containing sensitive historical content — particularly records relating to deportations, occupations, and other traumatic events — are handled with care and appropriate context. We follow responsible archiving practices.

Photographs and documents

Images you upload are stored securely and displayed only within the context you choose. You can remove any photograph at any time. We do not use your images for marketing or any purpose outside the platform without your explicit permission.

Account deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings. Deletion is permanent and removes all your properties, ancestors, heritage items, and photographs from the platform.
